How Coywink works, screen by screen.
Signing up takes about two minutes and never asks for your real name. This page shows every screen you will meet, what each one keeps, and what the app gives you once you are in.
Signing up: every screen, in order.
About two minutes. Most fields are optional. The ones that are not exist so Discover can show you real people nearby and nothing else.
Your date of birth
Type it in, day, month and year. It confirms you are over eighteen and then it is gone.
Keeps an over-18 mark Never the date itself
Who is joining
Solo, a couple, or a poly pod. Couples and pods link their partners at the end so you can show up together.
Keeps the account type
A handle, an email and a password
The handle is what people see. The email is for sign-in and recovery, and it is stored only as a one-way hash. There is no field for your name.
Keeps your handle and a hash of your email Never your name, your phone number
One click in your inbox
We send a verification link. Open it and the account is live.
Keeps nothing new
Who you are, if you want to sayOptional
Gender, orientation and relationship structure. Every answer is optional, and each one has its own audience: members, friends, your partner, or only you.
Keeps only the answers you give
What you are here for
Five interests, each rated not for me, curious, or into it: lifestyle, kink, local events, writing and reading, or just exploring. Your mix decides which tab opens first. Nothing is hidden because of it.
Keeps your ratings
Kinks and limitsOptional
Pick from a list and say where you stand on each: curious, into, soft limit, hard limit, or switch. Skip the whole screen if it is not your thing.
Keeps the items you pick
Your city
Pick it from a list. We keep the city and its centre point, never your address and never where your phone is.
Keeps city and region Never your precise location
Photos, up to fourOptional
Add them now or later. Each photo is re-encoded on your phone before upload, which strips the hidden location data cameras add. The first one becomes your avatar.
Keeps the photos you add Never camera location data
Two privacy switches
Set the careful way round. Your last-seen stays hidden until you turn it on, and you can take yourself out of search any time.
Keeps your two choices
Done
Couples and pods invite their partners here. Then everyone lands in Discover.
Keeps nothing new
Inside the app.
One account, one profile, one inbox. Discover is for meeting people, Feed is for keeping up with them, and everything else is shared between the two.
- Discover
- People and couples near you, by city. Activity shows as a bucket, online, today, this week, this month, never as a timestamp.
- Feed
- What the people you follow post: writing, photos and updates, newest first.
- Stories
- Stories written by members, open to read before you ever sign up. Read stories
- Events and venues
- Clubs, parties and munches by city, from a directory built on open data and filled in as we verify each place. Browse venues
- Messages
- Encrypted in transit and at rest, and never mined for ads or AI. A moderator sees a message only when someone in the conversation reports it.
- The Journal
- A private diary of encounters and partners that only you can read, unless you choose, entry by entry, to share it. About the journal
- Your profile
- Every field has its own audience. One page in your settings deletes the whole account.
Questions people ask before joining.
Do I have to use my real name?
No. Signup asks for a handle, an email and a password. There is no name field anywhere in the app, and your email is stored only as a one-way hash.
Can someone find out exactly where I am?
No. You pick a city from a list and that is all we keep. Distances in Discover are city to city. The app never reads your phone’s location.
Who can see my profile?
You decide per field: members, friends, your partner, or only you. Your last-seen is hidden until you switch it on, and you can leave search at any time.
My partner and I want to join together. Do we share one account?
You each get your own account and your own privacy settings. A couple or poly pod links them, so you appear together where you want to.
What happens when I report a message?
You choose what to include in the report. Moderators see only what you send them, never the rest of the conversation.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. One page in your settings deletes the account and what you posted.
Everything you will have given us by the end

- Your emailkept as a one-way hash
- A passwordhashed, like every password should be
- Your citythe city and nothing finer
- An over-18 markthe date of birth is gone

That is the whole trade.
